Some simple ideas for Mother's Day during that can be done during quarantine.

Ideas for Mothers Day

Here are some ideas for Mother’s day that can be done while respecting quarantine rules. Mother’s day is about thanking and showing extra appreciation for your mother and maternal parental figures. It’s the thought that counts, it doesn’t have to be extravagant.

Ideas for Mother’s Day

1. Bouquet of Wild Flowers

Look around your garden or neighbourhood, you never know what you’ll find. A small bouquet of hand pick flowers are a sweet gift to receive along with a homemade breakfast! Heres a link to wrapping your bouquet: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/how-to-gift-wrap-flowers-4065818

2. Breakfast at Home

Whether it’s in bed or out on the patio, a homemade breakfast is filled with love and tastiness! I love making pancakes for my family. This is a recipe that I use that doesn’t contain milk and majority of the ingredients should already be in your home! Here is my recipe for happy pancakes:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoon syrup
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water
  1. Mix together all the dry ingredients and create a well in the middle.
  2. Add in the wet ingredients and whisk together. Use a spatula to scrap down the sides. If the batter is too loose, add in up to an additional 1/4 cup of flour. The more flour you add the thicker the pancakes will be.
  3. Heat pan low to medium. Pour in 1/4 cup of batter per pancake and flip when there are bubbles starting to rise in the center. I prefer pale pancakes, so I flip them when the edges are dry and the center of the pancake is still slightly wet.

3. Picnic at Home

Surprise your mom with a picnic at home! A nice tea party in the garden with your fur babies and some pastries. Maybe make her a DIY whipped coffee to jazz things up! This is a great way to safely enjoy the beautiful weather that we have been having.

4. Edible Plants

Instead of flowers, try gifting your mom an edible plant! Its useful and if you find a cute container for it it’s just as decorative. In the picture I have some green onion that is ready to be transferred into a pretty pot as a gift! Herbs like dill and rosemary also make great indoor plants! Has your garlic gone bad and sprouted? Plant that sucker! It makes for a cute little house plant that you can eventually depot and eat!

5. Scrubbies

Make some pot scrubbers for her! A useful, customize-able gift that anyone can use. We also have a about reuseable cotton rounds that you could make into a set for your mom! This would go great in a homemade sustainable starter kit.

Remember, Mother’s Day is about showing appreciation and love to your mom. With everything that is going on, even just sending her a thoughtful text is what counts! Stay safe during this time!
